Set in the winter
Twig was in relatively good health for her age, except for a bit of stiffness in her joints and pain where arthritis plagued her. She had definitely been slowing down, that couldn’t be argued. She was reminiscing too much recently as well, a side effect of her age. How much had she seen these last ten years? How much had she forgotten? A little smile played on her silvered features as she made her way out of the den that night. Feeling far to restless as the moon crept up over the horizon. It was full, and she wouldn’t have been able to see it had the snow storm not relented.
A few clouds remains to release their pale white flakes and created a silence one could only know in the snow. As the moon glowed upon the undisturbed surfaces. It was absolutely gorgeous, and Twig was there all alone to enjoy its beauty. Perhaps she should have awakened Corvus to come on this walk with her, but in some ways it was a foreshadowing. Suddenly the woman felt the tiredness return to her.
She didn’t feel like she could return to the den, and with a contented sigh she curled herself into the fluffy snow. A smile on her features as she curled up,resting her fluffy tail on her nose she fell back asleep in the peaceful night. This was a sleep she would never wake from.
