He left on a mission to head to Hellborn. Not a mission from his mother, of course, but his own! He wanted to see what Auntie Widow was up to, and to see what Hellborn was like! The name itself intrigued him, and he was curious to know if it was anything like Insomnia or if it was something different. The young male had skirted the packs that lined the Bifrost (how annoying!) and it had taken a lot longer than he anticipated simply for the fact that while it was blazing hot at home, the places down here seemed swamped with cold! It was gross, and he was freezing his ass off! Luckily, he had found a den near a beaver dam to stay in for some warmth, and had even found an old torn cloak to help keep him a little warm from the elements. Not that it did much, but it was something. He had gone out in the afternoon when he thought it would be a little less cold, but nothing changed. Even the nearby water was practically frozen over! He shivered as searched nearby for something, anything to eat for lunch, and the only thing he could think to do was to dig into one of the dams that littered the area and snatch a beaver from its lodge. Once he finished his scrawny meal, he decided he was going to go back to his den and resume his journey to Hellborn after he warmed up a bit more...or tried to, anyway.

As he and Menace were returning, his fur spiked up when he smelled the strong scent of a creature he hadn't encountered before. Growling, he and his companion approached, and when he peered into the den, something would lunge at him with snarls of its own. He felt the whoosh of claws sweep just past his nose as he hurried to retreat, and suddenly, a wolverine stomped out of the den, snarling and growling at him as if he was the intruder! His surprise was quickly overcome as the wolverine challenged him. "That's Ripper's den! Get your own!" He snarled as he lunged for the wolverines back. His teeth barely made contact before the wolverine whipped around, its claws cutting against his shoulder and digging deep into them. He snarled and growled, retreating once more but the wolverine wouldn't let go. With a cry of pain, Ripper thrashed in an effort to get the little beast to let go of him. Once it did, he backed off for a moment to reorient himself, and as he did that, Menace went after the wolverine from behind. Both in an effort to distract it and keep it from retreating into the safety of the den.

His wounds stung, and no doubt they would keep bleeding until he got medical attention before they scarred over. He took a moment to quickly lick his wounds before turning his attention back to the commotion between wolverine and mongoose. Both formidable opponents against one another. Waiting for an opportune moment, Ripper dove back in while Menace had the smaller beast occupied, his serrated teeth grabbing onto the wolverines back as he lifted it off the ground and viciously shook the hell out of it. It flailed and screamed at him, twisting around as it tried to claw at his face but was unsuccessful.

He flung the creature, sending it flying and careening into the frozen earth where it lay stunned for a few heartbeats. Ripper would stop to catch his breath, thinking of course, that the fight was over. But before he knew it, that bastard creature jumped back to its paws and went running at him again. "Fucking die already you little shit!" He yelled as it dove for his leg, catching it in its teeth. He cried out in pain as he felt it try to break the shit out of his foreleg, and for a moment, he thought it might succeed before Menace dove in from beneath him straight for the wolverines face. His companion clawed and bit at its eyes until it released Ripper's leg, and the yearling stumbled before he went for another attack. Unsheathing his talons, the young male swiped over and over at the retreating wolverine, determined to remain on the offensive as both he and his companioned finally managed to quell the beast.

It finally lay still, twitching as it lay blinded and shredded in a pool of its own blood. Huffing and puffing, the adrenaline coursed through Ripper as the wounds from his assault bled. He had never had an encounter like that before, and he had to admit it was more intense than he thought. While he had fought several creatures before, he had been totally unprepared for this one! Groaning as he sat back, he realized he really needed to step up his game and get a lot more practice in if he wanted to take on creatures on his own...perhaps something he would do when he returned home. But for now, he retreated to grab the torn cloak and rest in the den for a little bit. Now he had to finish his trip to Hellborn so they could tend to his wounds, because he had absolutely no idea how to deal with them, and he didn't want to bleed all the way back home.

Like a traditional Mortem, Ripper can be unpredictable in nature~
