It was a great deal of effort to drag the deer back to the Syndicate. Stubborn pride kept him going, when he really should have cut up what he could carry with ease and buried the rest. He was close enough to see the familiar landscape that outlined the Syndicate border when the bear found him.
It emerged from the woods to his left, and ambled slowly at first towards him. The closer it came, the more speed it picked up. Until it was a full on sprint towards him and the deer. Realising the folly in remaining by the carcass, Flare dropped it and moved quickly to the side. While he had no intention of giving up his meal, he could see the folly in remaining in its path.

With her diminutive size and still aching bones, Iscariot's hunts have been mostly relegated to traps, since returning. Digging pits and lining them with spikes, leaving the heavy lifting to someone bigger. Play to your strengths and all that shit. It's in checking those traps that the scent of fresh kill reaches her on the breeze, accompanied by one of the other Syndicate bastards. Whoever it was probably had things under control, and she wouldn't bother trying to help bring in what's already dead. The fun part was over. Or, well, she wouldn't have bothered-- but then there's the sound of crashing in the undergrowth. Whatever the predator was, it was certainly big. Losing lunch to someone else's faltering wasn't on her list of things to do today, so Riot changes course. The bear is already staring down Flare as she closes in, a long-suffering sigh pushed through her lungs. With little fanfare, Iscariot maintains her flanking position. Head low, a dark streak as she dives for the beast's ankles. Ears pinned to her skull, hitting the creature with as much momentum as she can muster. The faster they can drive it off, the faster she can go back to her chores. |

Flare dove to the side just in time to avoid its main charge. Grimacing as he heard bones of the dead deer break as it was trampled. Lovely, ground deer. The bear didn’t stop and savour the deer however, but turned his gaze back to the threat. To Flare.
The fire marked wolf was ready this time, and was already moving to stay at its back. As he did so, he noticed the tiny form of one of the Syndicate wolves. He sneered at the diminutive wolf, not expecting much help from that quarter. Unless of course the bear eating her counted as a distraction.
All the same, when her attack landed on the bear's legs, Flare dove in. attempting to slam his fangs where its shoulder met its neck, and pull it down to his level.

As the bear reaches out with an almighty swipe, Iscariot finds her opening. With the beast balanced on three legs, she sinks her teeth deep into the beast's ankle. Ripping and tearing at the flesh with an unholy snarl, and tearing back with a mouthful of sinew and tissue. Echoing through the trees, the sound of the bear in pain. This was good. She's getting somewhere. Another powerful bite at the back of the creature's knee, tissue rich with blood and tendons. Watching as the beast wobbles on its feet, rendering it crippled from the rear. Killing it would be easier than driving it off, at this point. Impeding its movement near entirely, watching as the thing stumbles and rocks on its massive paws. Though the beast tries to anchor over those hind legs again, it falters. Iscariot doesn't stop pushing, doesn't stop forcing herself forward. With almighty force from the small woman, she doesn't let up. There's an end in sight, and she's going to make use of every opening presented. |

He tore at its upper level, while the incredibly tiny wolf tore at its lower level. Together, they created enough pain and distraction to keep the bear occupied. Though it did attempt multiple swipes at him that he had to duck, and its teeth were no joke.
There were a few moments of grunting and wrestling before he was able to get a better shot at its neck with his teeth. He dug in and tore a huge gash through its throat. It gurgled and weakened, struggling to breath as its blood pumped through the opening. It wouldn’t be long now, it was clear the bear wasn’t escaping this encounter alive.

The bear stuttered in its steps, crumbled beneath the assault. It wouldn't be long now, though Iscariot is pure relentless energy. There's a rage burning in the girl, a rage bigger than she is. Rage with an appropriate outlet... she'd take this. She'd take it and channel it, pulling off the bear's rear. As one of its massive paws lifts to club Flare once more, the girl finds her opening. Iscariot dives for the throat, teeth sinking into ragged flesh. Snarling as she does, ripping and shredding at the bear's neck. It's vicious, a cruelty funneled into the predator without relent. Snapping, snarling, and slashing until there's no life in the beast left. Coated in blood and panting heavily, she takes a careful step back from the carcass. Good enough. Dead is dead. |

As the bear began to weaken, the smaller Syndicate wolf leaped for its throat, tearing until another large wound dripped blood. Quickening its death as it struggled weakly and collapsed at their paws. Excellent. A bear pelt, and a deer to bring home. Perhaps this day wasn’t so terrible after all.
As he licked the blood from his chops, he heard the mournful cry of a bear, and his eyes shot forward. To where a bear looked at the dead kill at their paws, and then to them. With a cry of rage, it suddenly charged at them. Flare swore, and dove out of the charge of this bear. He just had to call it a good day, didn’t he?
