in my time of need
erebros
Enyo burst into Erebros’ room, her wet fur clinging to her muscular frame as she shook herself, droplets of water scattering across the stone floor. There was no time for manners. No time for a facade of patience. The scent of the river still clung to her, mingling with the unmistakable tang of saltwater. Her breath was heavy, her chest rising and falling with quick, erratic gasps. Her eyes were uncharacteristically wide and unsettled when they locked onto Erebros.
Searching for answers in his calm, steady presence.
"Erebros!" she barked, her voice carrying an edge of urgency and raw anxiety. "I-I need you." Something she had never said with such disparity. She knew she should remain calm, that he would look down on her for her reactivity. But if she just explained, if he had seen what she did. The chaos. The blood. The smell. The wet noise.
He would understand.
She needed to make him understand.
Her gaze flickered nervously to the side, unwilling to meet his eyes for more than a fleeting moment as the disturbing image of Brian's writhing body filled her mind.
"There was a wolf," she continued, her words tumbling out faster now, the urgency mounting in her tone. "His name was... I don't know it. I don't know him. But he-he had something inside of him- worms." Her voice dropped to a whisper as if the very thought of them made her skin crawl. "They burst from his stomach, wriggling and squirming. Blood and bile-" She recoiled, her muscles tensing at the memory. "I- I had no choice. I had to end it. I had to send him off the cliff. People were panicking. I needed to get him away."
Enyo paused, taking a shaky breath, her eyes darting briefly to the ground. "But then," she muttered, her face twisting in disgust, "one of them burrowed into me. A worm. It dug into my nostril. I can feel it-" She pawed at her own face, her breath hitching. "It’s still inside me. I need you to do something, Erebros. Please."
What if she bursted? How long did she have? How fast did they multiply?
"His stomach fucking exploded. Το στομάχι του γαμημένο εξερράγη! Αίμα παντού! Ήταν ζωντανός και σκουλήκια ξεχύνονταν από κάθε στόμιο! (His stomach fucking exploded! Blood everywhere! He was alive, and worms were spilling out from every orifice! From his nose, mouth...)"
The raw vulnerability in her voice was a stark contrast to her usual commanding presence. Her mind raced, her heart thundering in her chest. This was not something she could handle alone. She could feel the worm shifting inside her, and every passing second made her more desperate. She needed him. She needed his expertise now more than ever.
Her body felt violated. Disgusting. She wanted to rip her flesh apart and carve it out. She needed to. It needed to go. Her throat was raw from sneezing and coughing. Even dunking her head underwater and remaining there till her lungs screamed for air. Anything.

⌠ he expected her after her companion sent word of what happened.. but he didn't expect her to approach in the manner she did. he shifted up, grabbing his satchel of herbs and tools before coming to the entrance to meet the anxious enyo. she barged in, slamming into his chest as they collided firmly against one another. the impact strong enough to leave a bruise on Érebos but he shows no sign of reactivity. instead his calm yet harsh gaze looks over her panicked face and with a few words, his booming voice seemingly quieted the world around them. "Calm down. I will not let anything happen to you, το βασιλικό μου αίμα(my royal blood)."
his face was stoic and relaxed as he took in what she said, processing it quickly. "Lay down, stop speaking." he wanted her to save her precious breathe, aiming to prevent a panic attack from enyo. while this wasn't her norm, he saw the life in her eyes flare with desperation and trust. and he knew better than to misplace that in such a dire time of need. he was reliable, trustworthy and selfish with enyo. he needed her to be okay, more than she needed herself to be okay. but this, he'd never tell.
he gathers his tool set, taking out rubber tweezers with metal caps he made months ago. he sterilized it with vodka bought from the market, placing it upon a steel dish near the corner of his spacious den. he gathered a glass jar with a lid placed down to the side then. moving quickly and with skill, he came to finally hover over enyo. "You describe a parasite." he spoke without hesitancy. "Assuming you came as soon as you could, it may be early enough to extract it." he looked her over, glancing at her widened eyes. "You will be fine. this will hurt." he warns her before taking his long flexible tweezers and sliding them into her left nostril. ⌡

Enyo’s entire body tensed as Erebros moved toward her, his words slipping into her mind like a balm, but they did little to soothe the raw panic coursing through her. A dread that refused to ease. She needed control. One thing she always had was control over her body. But now? She felt as if she could feel the worm wriggling inside her, cold and relentless, a foreign invader making its home in her body.
When Erebros commanded her to lie down, she complied. Stretched out on the stone floor, her breath coming in rapidly as she tried to steady herself. The fear was suffocating, but his voice forced her to try to focus on something other than her stress.
She watched him work, his hands moving with calm precision as he prepared his tools. A sharp clink of metal met her ears as he sterilized the tweezers, and for a brief moment, Enyo’s focus faltered, her mind drifting back to the horrific image of Brian’s stomach tearing open, of the squirming worms spilling from his body. Was that her fate? The smell, the sound, the blood- it all felt like it was closing in on her.
Erebros hovered over her, and Enyo could see the sharp gleam of his tools in his maw. His gaze was fixed, calm, and calculated. Yet there was an underlying urgency in his movements that matched the rapid thudding of her heart.
He assured her she would be fine, his voice as unwavering as ever, though Enyo couldn’t shake the gnawing feeling in her gut. Erebros knew more of these things than her so perhaps she was worried for nothing. She should trust in him. There was always a solution... right?
The tweezers pressed against the inside of her left nostril, and the moment Erebros began his search, a searing pain shot through Enyo’s face. It felt as though her very nerves were being torn apart, the cold, sharp pinch of the tweezers digging into the tender flesh of her nostril. The scent of alcohol burned any air she attempted to breathe. The pressure was nearly too much. Every slight movement of the tool sent jolts of pain through her skull, making her vision blur as her eyes watered.
Yet she remained as still as possible.
A deep growl came from her chest as her body arched slightly in response to the burning sensation, but she held her ground. She had to. There was no room for weakness here. The worm could not be allowed to win. She clenched her teeth, willing herself not to allow any more signs of pain.
The pain intensified as Erebros maneuvered the tweezers deeper. Despite her desperate efforts to focus, she felt nothing in the tip of the tweezers... no worm.
Her breath came faster now, an involuntary whine escaping her throat as Erebros withdrew the tweezers and paused. She could see it in his face, he hadn’t found it. The relief she’d hoped for evaporated in an instant, replaced by the horrific realization that the parasite was still inside her.
It was still there. Still moving. Still alive.
"Please tell me there is other options"

⌠ he didn't find it- and it worried him. he couldn't hide it on his face either when he sat slumped back, face pensive and in deep thought. she asked if there were any other options.. but he didn't entirely know truth be told. "If it's already deeper in your nasal cavities, it may be best to try and deworm you, enyo." he sighed, his paws placing his tools down into the steel dish with vodka. what else could work? he sorted through his herbal pouch, finding pumpkin seeds crushed into a fine powder and placed into a mild carrier of olive oil. this was potent and would cause side effects to say the least. "Take this. It will bring intense bouts of stomach cramping and diarrhea. But it will help pass whatever.. it is." he spoke, hovering over her again with the oil near her mouth.⌡

There was no success. Of course.
Enyo's body remained stiff as Erebros leaned back. His expression was unreadable, but the pensive look told of a deep concern that made the pit in her stomach twist even further. He needed to fix it. Erebros always fixed these things for her. Her body was being invaded and what could she do about it?
She would do anything. Her eyes followed Erebros, watching him grind the pumpkin seeds into some oil she did not recognize. The worm inside her had to be removed, and there was no telling how long she could hold out before it became even more deadly. Erebros then approached her, speaking of deworming. Cramps? Diarheea?
"I would much rather suffer now in those little ways than meet a fate similar to that of the wolf."
She took the oil from him swallowing it quickly. The mixture was thick going down. Her throat was still raw from the sneezing, coughing, and river water she swallowed in an attempt to drown the damn thing. What if there was more?
"It's just the shits. Hopefully, I can pass it."
