If they were going to have livestock, then they'd need somewhere to house them. That's where the Steppe came in. Víðarr's vision was to use part of it as a training space, and the other part to house their stock. While it wouldn't always be ideal to hike all the way down from the snowy mountain, it was a lot better than trying to move sheep all the way up, especially when it had already started snowing. Yeah, this would at least have to do for the winter. At least the ground was still going to be soft enough to drive some posts into.

Considering the space, as well as the proximity to both the river and the border, the shadow began to mark out the space where he'd like to put up the fence. Humming softly to himself as he worked, shifting stakes that were held together with sturdy twine. Thinking about where they'd put the gate, too, posed an interesting question. And how many pens would they need? It had been such a long time since he'd been truly settled somewhere. To think that a trivial problem like where to put the sheep fences was on his mind, instead of will we survive until tomorrow? It was incredible. Though Víðarr puzzles over his sheep problem, he's grateful for the trivial predicament.

Auðr needed to get their ass in gear, after the raid that was more obvious than ever. They had a specific vision for themselves and right now they had leaned too far into the shadows. They needed to step up the supporting part of supporting from the shadows. Maybe that was what drew them out to their brother today, or maybe it was simply luck or the gods. Auðr was definitely the type to assume the latter. In truth they preferred this land over the mountain, it wasn't that they were cold, they didn't have the same amount of fat or muscle as much of their family to insulate themselves but their pelt was just as thick as their brother's. They simply preferred the feeling the stone monument brought them, the mountain may have been physically closer to the heavens but if Auðr had to imagine a Bifröst connecting somewhere this felt more the place, at least to them. So maybe it was the gods that had manoeuvred them together here.

Víðarr seemed deep in thought as Auðr approached. They laughed softly. "Jag trodde att det var mitt jobb." They said as they approached, observing their brother with a tilted head. "Vad upptar ditt sinne?"

As his sibling approaches, Víðarr lifts his head. A fond, familiar smile across his rugged features, as he goes back to focusing on his work. If he breaks his concentration now, the whole thing will come toppling over-- he's sure of it. The idea of putting down roots seemed... feasible. Doable. For the first time in a long time, they were making their mark on the land in a way that felt permanent. That felt like it was meant to last. Víðarr's tail twitches at his haunches as he looks to Auðr. "It is my pack, therefore all jobs are also mine." Maybe a bit of mirth in his icy gaze, maybe a bit of mischief.

"Too many things," Víðarr chuckled softly. He continued to wind the string around the pegs, driving them into the soft earth. Carefully nudging each edge, lifting up a peg here and there. Replacing and re-positioning, the shadow was going to make it perfect. Meticulous, perhaps more than he's ever been in his life. "Yours?" His gaze flickers up to Auðr's face for a moment, looking to read his sibling carefully. Curiously. Ever the watcher, their thoughts are important to him. It's only now that the shadow pauses in his work, the inquiry genuine.

Auðr chuckled softly as their brother responded. "Och beröva din egen familj ett jobb?" The watched as their brother set up a perimeter, letting a comfortable silence stretch between them. Their bright blues tracing the shape as it was being filled out. Turning to their brother only when he turned to speak to them again. "Jag tror..." Auðr said walking towards one of the pegs and gesturing with a paw as they spoke: "Om du vill behålla något bör du överväga att hålla omkretsen närmare toppen av sluttningen." Easy for something to jump over a fence if they had the height to do so, though the land wasn't particularly hilly here it wouldn't help to ignore the possibility. "Om inte så kan du bortse från."

Auðr knew that's not what their brother had meant, they shrugged. "Jag anpassar mig fortfarande, du vet att jag inte är social, men jag vill hjälpa till på något sätt." They were still trying to sort of figure out where they stood, they didn't want to pull focus but in truth Auðr was feeling a little unmoored.

Víðarr's smile colors his words, shining through with a comfortable familiarity as he works. "I never said you couldn't help," a twitch at the corner of his lips, too. He steps back as Auðr makes a comment about actually keeping the sheep in this time. Fuck, they had a point. Víðarr gave an appreciative nod, shifting the farthest corners closest to the top.

Wanting to help. He nods after thinking for a moment, tipping his muzzle to the pile of posts. "Today, building sheep pens."" It had been on his list, and he appreciates their company more than most. "One Thrall girl wants to learn the religion. I will send her to you." Víðarr gives the assignment with another appreciative nod. Learning from the best was the only option. "That should keep both of us busy until the puppies arrive, no?" Ah yes, a bit of mischief still hanging in his tone. It's the closest he'll get to making an announcement, but his sibling should know. Still he works away at moving the last of the marker posts for the fence, taking a step back to admire his own handiwork.
